Walk Six Miles in My Shoes – February 22, 2025
Walk Six Miles in My Shoes – February 22, 2025
Early Morning Walk Preparation
Good morning, and welcome to another edition of Walk Six Miles in My Shoes. I'm your host, Ben Connelly, and it is 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
I’m in the process of gearing up for my walk. It’s a cold morning—18°F here in the Rosefield community, near Wrightstown and Newtown. I’m putting on my heated gloves with the battery pack. Theoretically, I’m good to go.
Before I put on the final glove, I need to start my tracking programs:
- Samsung Health → Start Walking
- Adjust volume → Lower it slightly
Now, I’m connected—but why is it saying "power off"? No idea. But I’ll start my track and confirm that my voice is being recorded on the other phone. That should work.
Phones go into the pockets—I won’t use the armband today because I’ve confirmed the old phone works just as well without it. Now, let’s finish getting ready:
- Inner liner gloves on
- Heated gloves powered up
- Bright mittens on top
Whether all this tech works together is another question. I Velcro everything in place and hope for the best.
Observing the Night Sky
The night is mostly clear, with just a few wispy clouds. Venus and the Moon are nowhere in sight.
It’s still pre-season for baseball, but yesterday, we had a little bit of snow. That’s fine—it didn’t cause any issues.
News & Current Events
Gaza & Israel Conflict
The situation in Gaza remains tense. There’s outrage over reports of veterans working for the VA being laid off, along with base closures and budget cuts. Even Trump has suggested mailing people checks to offset economic strain—some say $5,000 per person.
However, financial expert Steve Rattner argues that such payments would only fuel inflation rather than help the economy.
Trump also made several promises after his election:
- Lower prices – Egg prices are still at record highs due to the bird flu crisis.
- Ending foreign conflicts – He claimed he could resolve the Ukraine war in one day.
- Hostage negotiations – Some progress has been made, but new attacks in Israel continue.
The idea that Trump could "flip a switch" and end global conflicts has been widely criticized. War resolutions take time, and currently, there’s no sustainable peace plan in place.
Artificial Intelligence & Political Negotiation
I’ve been thinking a lot about AI-assisted political discussion platforms.
There are two major AI models that could help with public discourse:
- One focuses on aggregating census data.
- Another enables structured debates within congressional districts.
These systems could use AI to provide alternative arguments and foster productive discussions, preventing conversations from breaking down.
I tried this approach during a Facebook exchange, asking: "Are you ready to negotiate?"
I doubt I’ll hear back, but that’s part of the challenge—we need better ways to foster public engagement and develop common positions on important issues.
The speed of internet-based discussions far surpasses traditional debate structures. If we could develop a platform that moves discussions toward consensus, it could revolutionize representation in Congress.
The goal would be to create a system where individuals negotiate agreements and present consolidated viewpoints to elected officials. Over time, these positions could scale up from small groups to entire districts.
The ultimate objective is to prevent political obstructionism and restore true representation.
Fitness Routine & Observations
Push-ups at the Guardrail
Stopping for push-ups:
- Feet back, heels down, chest up.
- First set: 10 reps
- Second set: 10 reps
- Third set: 10 reps
I continue walking, looking at the sky. The clouds are thicker now, but I can still make out the Big Dipper.
Checking My Health Metrics
I took my blood pressure before bed and again this morning. Results:
- Left arm: 109/67, pulse 89
- Right arm: 110/65, pulse 84
- Daily average: 123/73
I’ll follow this up with an EKG reading after the workout.
Final Stretch of the Walk
The wind is picking up, but I’m almost done. I haven’t seen any deer this morning—probably because it’s too cold for them to be out.
Rowing Machine & Strength Training
After the walk, I’ll:
✅ Do 10 minutes on the rowing machine
✅ Upload my audio notes to Google Drive
✅ Get breakfast & clean the litter box
✅ Stop at Home Depot for gardening supplies
Final Thoughts
This morning’s walk gave me a lot to think about—from geopolitics to AI-driven negotiation systems.
For now, it’s time to warm up, eat, and move on with the day. Let’s make it a productive Saturday!
The above was derived from a several step process and I have not reviewed in detail as of 2025-02-23 at 1:46pm. At a minimum It transcribed my last name wrong.
Step 1: As part of my morning walks I started recording at about 3am and finished recording at 7:09am on a Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
Step 2: Uploaded to my Google Drive and then back down to my laptop.
Step 3: Imported the file Voice 019.m4a to Google's NotebookLM which transcribed the audio into text.
- I have the original audio - but need to find a place to host and then Embed the recording
Step 4: I prompted ChatGPT to "reformat the text into readable paragraphs
Below is the NotebookLM summary and transcribed text:

Yet another outrage outrage Gaza is for a minute. The leader of another country war itself. Meanwhile, The outrage is about those stories coming out about veterans working for the VA the retired and um The defense is is they're letting go of the base mailing people. They even Trump has even suggested sending out those checks check people for saving Uh, it goes with 20%. Everybody will get a $5,000 check or something. The expert Steve Ratner from say that his argument for doing that the numbers don't doesn't uh don't advocate that eliminate aggravating inflation and things economically inflation will pop and just not necessary. Uh yeah, I decided to do it. month after collection few things that I remember him saying three things that he promised were one was prices actually Uh so their egg prices are as high as they've ever been specifically because of the bird which is also representing a potential threat. So that's that's one thing that I can um on the day bring them the other way. Um second, he's going to leave the cause of war and turn the host. They're all part and parcel of day one. And while some hostages are being released and they're is some progress and cheap 411 after but uh yeah uh in Gaza There have been progress or obtain themselves. Additional arguments additional additional then two parties would normally walk away. or stop communicating. Um, as I suspect may be the case with the Facebook exchange, uh, I made a proposition. So, are you ready? And I probably won't hear anything, but if I do, I'll be for um but that's the point though is that PCA and I need you it's only two of us we need to we need to and should perform a common position together. Um, now the internet motivation can be done way faster than emotion in an individual can dissipate. So 21 coming up maybe. and you come back on the road that started out that will eventually come into South. 230 m kind of sort of working with the uh But perhaps this pure pure artificial intent intelligence is is a matter of control. and hold it. President Trump made inflation the primary focus of his campaign.
36 months especially at the grocery store. A new CN poll shows 62% of Americans feel Trump inflation. A research poll shows nearly the same amount of Americans still view inflation as a very big problem. Joining me now is Lydia. She is an economic reporter for the New York Times. Lydia, good morning to you. Consumer prices rose last month, fastest monthly increase since August 2023. Understand why people are frustrated with prices. What are the variables that first led to that that rise?
That's right. Well, the concern with that inflation reading, which as you mentioned was stickier than expected, is that it was fairly broadbased. There was a lot of sectors that led to that increase, including housing that hasn't reduced in price as fast as economists had expected, as well as food and services like auto insurance, which I know has been a really big ticket item for many the past few months. And so when you have price increases that fast, fastest again since August 2023, is that an indicator that it's going to likely get worse?
You know, the path forward for inflation is never certain, but it does suggest that the news economic for you policies that the White House has been pursuing Those would very much suggest that inflation is not going to continue on its path downward. For example, those tariffs, some of which are saying inflation is going to go temporary increases,
which is not what Trump
said he would fix day one,

A passing of note, political tensions
In response to an article: Marian Turski, Holocaust survivor who warned of the danger of indifference, dies at 98 -- https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/marian-turski-holocaust-survivor-who-warned-of-the-danger-of-indifference-dies-at-98/ar-AA1zjtqa?ocid=TobArticle
I shared the hyperlink and posted the following
Mr Turski's admonishment's about indifference is one that should resonate today. I don't know anything beyond this article, about Mr Turski. His passing should be noted for being a Holocaust survivor and most recently for being alive during the rise of Trump, MAGA and misinformation.
Recently, CNN posted a piece about various opinion pieces on the Trump supporting cable TV outlets bemoaning what they see as a insulting by Tom Hanks during SNL 50th anniv show when the opinion shows on the left did the same thing when Trump made comments about Puerto Rico.
While I have not observed as much history as Mr Turski - not yet anyway, I have paid a larger portion of one's increasingly divided attention to current events. "Current events" normalize, compress and reduce into memories and history. We know what Mr Turski's generation experienced first hand in the run up to WWII.
My generation can have an understanding of that period of history and the language. While we can't know what the language of Maga and Trump will eventually turn out, it can be argued there are stark and strong parallels between our current period and pre-WWII.
I don't have solutions. I do have ideas. I do know that a large set of folks I know first hand today are troubled by events, words and meanings and those troubles are not being processed. This can be said not because current events are being discussed - but because there is a silence about how to resolve the tensions and greater slivers of attention are being paid to less historical significant events.
This can be said because if these troubles and concerns on both sides of the political spectrum were indeed being resolved - the political tensions would not be as elevated as the are currently.
We needs ideas to be shared and given increased slivers of time and attention and built on to find a state of social being move forward for all.
2001 did not show us a Monolith on the moon, it taught us that if you see something say something. We need brainstorming and troubleshooting of social and political issues.
It should be noted it took 10+ years between the Declaration of Independence and the ratification of our current Constitution which has grown and changed for 250 years. There was even a different form of governance and a different First President in that interim.
I am committed to not be indifferent. It is a first step - let me end with a lighter note - and accept the journey, a trek, a yellow brick road or following Old Man Winter the "claymation guy put one foot in front of the other" - click to see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4fc74snmK8
It really can be that simple - make it an "atomic habit". Commit to NOT being indifferent and let's build together - Phila is proof that it can happen whether it be 1776 with independence or 2025 and a Superbowl.
Mr Turski - I heard you.
